underlined. is a quiet place to save and share short lines that stayed with you, with care for both readers and original creators.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to make underlined. work. No ads, no tracking, no selling personal data.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the information needed to create your account, keep your collection, and make underlined. work.

Account information

When you create an account, we collect information such as your email address and account identifiers. Authentication is handled by our authentication providers, including email/password and, where supported, Sign in with Apple.

Profile information

You may add profile details such as a display name, username, short bio, avatar, and onboarding mood interests. underlined. allows soft pseudonymity; you do not need to use your real name.

underlined. posts

When you create an underlined. post, we collect the line you saved, the source title, creator name, creator role, media type, optional source context, optional reflection, mood tags, spoiler setting, and whether you chose to share it or keep it private.

Source attribution is required because underlined. is built around discovery and respect for original creators.

Saved collection

When you save another person's underlined post, we store that save so you can return to it later. Your Saved collection is private to you and is not shown to other users.

Support, reports, and copyright requests

If you contact us, report content, or send a copyright or takedown request, we collect the information you provide so we can review and respond.

Technical information

We may collect limited technical information such as device type, app version, IP address, and security-related logs where necessary to keep the app reliable, secure, and working as intended.

2. Public And Private Content

underlined. has both private and shared spaces.

If you choose to share an underlined. post, it may be visible to other users, including the line, source attribution, reflection, mood tags, spoiler marker, and your public profile information.

If you choose to keep an underlined. post private, it is not shown in the public feed or to other users.

Your Saved collection is private to you. Saving means a line moved you enough to keep; it is not a public popularity signal.

Please do not include personal information in posts, reflections, bios, or usernames unless you are comfortable with it being used according to this policy.

3. Short Excerpts And Creator Respect

underlined. is designed for short excerpts only: a line that stayed with you, not a place to reproduce full works.

The app is not intended for full chapters, scripts, scenes, or substantial portions of copyrighted works. Users are asked to share only short excerpts, include source attribution, and respect the original creators of books, movies, and TV shows.

We may review, limit, remove, or restrict content if we believe it violates our guidelines, creates copyright risk, harms others, or misuses the service.

4. How We Use Information

We use information to:

create and manage your account;
show your profile and shared posts;
save private posts and Saved collection items for you;
keep source attribution attached to posts;
operate, secure, debug, and improve the app;
respond to support, report, moderation, and copyright requests;
enforce our Terms, Content Guidelines, and creator-respect rules;
comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your personal data for third-party advertising. We do not sell your personal data. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising.

5. How We Share Information

We may share information in limited ways.

With other users

Shared underlined. posts and public profile information may be visible to other users.

With service providers

We use trusted service providers to host, store, authenticate, secure, and operate the app. These providers may process information on our behalf.

For safety, legal, and rights protection

We may disclose information if necessary to comply with law, respond to legal requests, protect rights and safety, investigate misuse, or handle copyright and takedown requests.

Business changes

If underlined. is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy or a policy with similar protections.

6. Data Retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide underlined., maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect the service.

If you delete content or your account, we will take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify information, unless we need to keep certain records for legal, safety, moderation, security, backup, or copyright and takedown reasons.

Deleted posts may be removed from user-facing surfaces before they are fully removed from all systems or backups.

7. Your Choices

You may be able to:

edit your profile;
choose whether a new underlined. post is shared or kept private;
delete or edit your posts, where supported;
unsave posts from your Saved collection;
request deletion of your account and associated personal information;
contact us about privacy questions or data requests.

We may need to verify your request before acting on it. Some information may be retained where needed for legal, safety, moderation, security, backup, copyright, or legitimate business reasons.

8. Children's Privacy

underlined. is not intended for children under 13, or the minimum age required in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the applicable age. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review it.

9. International Users

underlined. may process information in countries other than where you live. Privacy laws may differ by location. Where required, we will take steps designed to protect your information consistent with applicable law.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No app or internet service can guarantee complete security, but we work to keep underlined. careful, limited, and respectful by design.
